Hello! My name is Suzie Horne and I’m the creator/ owner of Curlicue NZ, based in beautiful Titirangi, West Auckland with my husband, daughter and 2 cats.
Looking good is one thing, but doing good is a value on which I’ve built my business. I like to think I’m helping and empowering YOU. Making you feel beautiful and confident at the same time as being eco-conscious and aware of the effects the jewellery industry can have on the environment.
I’m a lover of classic beauty and fine details and I proudly put my name against the pieces I handcraft with care. My jewellery makes more than just a fashion statement. It’s made with 100% sustainably sourced Sterling Silver and Copper and genuine cultured Freshwater Pearls, Swarovski Crystals, NZ Paua Shell, Greenstone, Kauri Gum and other semi-precious gemstones. One of my recent collections – R3 – is made up entirely of repurposed milk bottles and handmade Eco Sterling Silver hooks!
My background is in Ecology and Environmental Planning, which is what I did before becoming a full time mum in 2008 – in the midst of the last financial crisis. I was unable to go back to my job part time, and then I was very unwell for a few years, resulting in Chronic Pain Syndrome, which has forced a change to the way I live and work. Fortunately, I am now able to do something I love, from home, and take time out when needed.
Understandably, my inspirations come from love of the nature around us and I also try to look after that same environment in everything I do, including donating to charities – such as Forest & Bird – that I’m passionate about.
I love bringing gorgeous, every day pieces to you – whether it’s a gift between friends, someone you love or if you think “I deserve it!”
