What Can I Do….?
Beeswax wraps are a fantastic reusable alternative to try. They last for years, they’re nice to look at, effective, made of natural materials and are completely compostable at the end of their life. Choose from all sorts of sizes and designs to suit your needs.
Reusable bowl covers are also a thing now, whether you’d like gorgeous handmade fabric ones or stretchy silicone – they’ll keep your food fresh and they can be reused endlessly.
There is also a great range of wraps made especially for sandwiches and snacks – perfect for lunch boxes. And if convenience is your thing, there are compostable options now, including compostable sandwich bags and even compostable cling wrap.
Of course, it’s not always necessary to buy new stuff!! Using what you already have is THE BEST way to reduce waste. A plate put over a bowl of leftovers will do the trick nicely with no need for anything else and a paper bag for sandwiches will work just fine too.
Go the Extra Mile
Get crafty and whip up your very own fabric sandwich bags or wraps. There are lots of tutorials on the internet and it’s a super easy sewing project for the kids to try too!!!
